Ametrine is a transparent purple and yellow stone that is readily available worldwide, but is obtained through one mine located in Bolivia.
Ametrine is a mixture of Amethyst and Citrine and is also known as Trystine or Bolivianite. The different colours are produced by the iron in the stone oxidising at different rates due to exposure to different temperatures as the crystal is formed. The first record of this stone was in seventeenth century Spain when it was presented to the Queen as a gift from the New World. Legend of the Bolivian Ametrine states that a mine was given to a spanish conquistador Felipe de Urriola y Goitia as a dowry gift from Anahi an Ayoreo princess. When it came time for him to return to Spain Anahi planned to go with him, against the wishes of her people, who attempted to kill Don Felipe to prevent him from taking her. However Anahi was accidently killed as she was warning him of his fate and as she lay dying she gave him an Ametrine crystal. The two colours in the stone, purple and orange, representing how she was torn between the love for her tribe and love for her husband.
Ametrine assists one to overcome the fear of action or progress. It clears mental fogginess and keeps the mind focussed and alert. It is a 'stone of the muses' and can help one to connect with and manifest inspired ideas. Ametrine helps to develop a strong sense of one's own power and potential. It can be used to enhance learning and information retention and also assists with digestive issues and stimulation of metabolism.
Placing this stone at head level is efficient for relaxation and heightened intuition. This Ametrine is abundant with points angled in many directions supporting energy to move around the room efficiently. Layed down with points pointed directionally toward an area that is not in balance can speed up relaxation, recovery and clarity. Standing above the Ametrine, with points pointed upward, has created a sense of grounding, cleansing, recharge within ones body.
